When You Need a Brake Motor
A brake motor is the right call when:
- Loads hold position when power is interrupted — lifts, hoists, jib cranes, vertical conveyors. A standard motor will coast or freewheel; a brake motor stops and holds.
- Stop time is safety-critical — packaging guillotines, indexing tables, robotic axes. Brake engages on power-off in milliseconds.
- Repetitive precise positioning — bottling line indexers, label feeds, pick-and-place. The brake stops the rotor at the same point each cycle.
- Emergency stop integration — when an E-stop is pressed, the brake engages automatically with the contactor drop-out.
For applications where free coasting is acceptable (fans, pumps, mixers), a standard three-phase motor without integrated brake is more cost-effective.
TechTop TAI-BHR Brake Motor Series
The TechTop TAI-BHR series is a 415V three-phase aluminium-frame brake motor with integrated electromagnetic disc brake.
