Role in Cable Balancer Systems

Cable tool balancers suspend tools — power tools, assembly equipment, torque wrenches — in a counterbalanced state so the operator can work without supporting the tool's weight. The cable within the balancer runs from the drum, around internal guide posts and pivot points, to the tool suspension point. At each pivot point, a hardened washer protects the guide post and cable from mutual wear. As these washers deteriorate, the cable begins to fray or develop wear grooves in the guide post, ultimately leading to cable failure.

Replacement and Maintenance
