Drop-In Anchors — Flush Expansion Anchors for Concrete

Drop-in anchors provide a flush, internally-threaded fastening point in concrete — the anchor is installed flush with the concrete surface and expanded with a setting tool, providing a reusable internal thread (M6 to M20) for bolted connections. • Setting Tool: Drop-in anchors require a specific setting tool for correct expansion — the tool drives the expansion plug to the correct depth, locking the anchor at rated capacity. Using an incorrect or improvised setting tool risks under-expansion and anchor failure. Matching setting tools are available per anchor size.

Drop-In Anchor Installation & Selection Guide

• Hole Diameter Critical: Drop-in anchors require a specific hole diameter in the concrete — typically the anchor OD nominal. Oversized holes reduce expansion contact with the concrete and reduce anchor capacity. Use the correct diameter carbide-tipped drill bit and measure hole diameter before installation.
• Hole Depth: The hole must be drilled to at least the anchor embedment depth — shallow holes prevent full anchor expansion and reduce rated capacity. Confirm hole depth with a depth gauge before anchor installation.
• Load Direction Capacity: Drop-in anchors are primarily designed for tensile (pullout) load. They have limited shear load capacity compared to through-bolts and sleeve anchors. Confirm that the anchor type selected provides adequate capacity for the actual load direction — consult technical data sheets for pullout and shear capacities by embedment depth.
