Masonry Anchors — Sleeve, Wedge & Wall Anchors
AIMS Industrial stocks 80+ masonry and concrete anchors covering sleeve anchors, wedge anchors, masonry screws, hollow wall anchors and drop-in anchors in zinc, mechanically galvanised and 316 stainless steel. Whether you're anchoring structural steel to a concrete slab, fixing equipment to a masonry wall or installing fire-rated anchoring systems, AIMS has the anchor type, material and pull-out specification you need.
Anchor Types We Stock
- Sleeve Anchors — Flush Head & Countersunk: Zinc yellow passivate flush head sleeve anchors and 316 stainless steel countersunk sleeve anchors for concrete and solid masonry. Sleeve anchors expand radially on installation — providing reliable holding in both cracked and uncracked concrete.
- Wedge Anchors — Clawbolt Pro (Fire Rated): Clawbolt Pro C1 and C1&C2 fire-rated wedge anchors in zinc plated finish for structural anchoring applications where fire resistance classification is required — suitable for fire-rated construction joints, sprinkler systems and structural steel fixings.
- Masonry Screws (Xbolt) — Hex Flange Head: Xbolt masonry screws in zinc yellow and mechanically galvanised finish for concrete and masonry applications where a removable fastener is preferred over an expansion anchor. Pre-drilling required — masonry screws cut their own thread into the concrete substrate.
- Hollow Wall Anchors: Carbon steel zinc-plated hollow wall anchors for fixing into plasterboard, hollow masonry block and lightweight partition walls — expands behind the panel to distribute load across a larger bearing area than a standard screw.
- Drop-In Anchor Setting Tools: Metric drop-in anchor setting tools in carbon steel for correctly setting drop-in anchors to the required depth — using the correct setting tool is essential for achieving full-rated anchor pull-out performance.
- 316 Stainless for Corrosive Environments: Countersunk sleeve anchors in 316 stainless steel for anchoring in coastal structures, marine jetties, chemical plant and wet concrete where zinc-plated anchors would corrode within their design service life.
Selecting the Right Masonry Anchor
- Anchor Type vs Substrate: Wedge anchors and sleeve anchors are used in solid concrete and solid masonry. Hollow wall anchors are used in hollow block, plasterboard and lightweight partitions. Using the wrong anchor for the substrate will result in pull-out failure.
- Fire Rating Requirements: Clawbolt Pro fire-rated wedge anchors are specified where a C1 or C1&C2 fire resistance rating is required — check the anchor datasheet for fire rating classification and ensure compliance with the structural engineer's specification.
- Removable vs Permanent: Masonry screws (Xbolt) allow anchor removal and reinstallation — preferred for equipment that may need to be repositioned. Sleeve and wedge anchors are designed for permanent installation — removal typically damages the surrounding substrate.
- Material Grade & Environment: Zinc yellow passivate suits most dry, indoor environments. Mechanical galvanising provides improved outdoor corrosion performance. 316 stainless is required for coastal, marine and chemical exposure — do not substitute lower grades in corrosive environments.
