Narrow section wrapped V-belts are the traditional construction in the high-power industrial belt category — a fabric-wrapped exterior over a rubber compound core, reinforced with high-strength tensile cords. The wrap protects the belt from oil, ozone, and abrasive contamination found on industrial drives, and provides a quiet, stable running surface in the pulley groove. The four narrow section profiles

• SPZ — 9.7mm top width, smallest profile, fractional-power and light industrial drives
• SPA — 12.7mm top width, light-to-medium industrial drives
• SPB — 16.3mm top width, medium-power industrial workhorse profile
• SPC — 22mm top width, heavy industrial drives

Wrapped versus cogged — which to spec

Wrapped belts suit clean industrial environments where the wrap's protection from oil and dust is the priority, and where pulley diameters are large enough that bending stress isn't the limiting factor. Cogged belts (also stocked here under Narrow Section Cogged Belts) suit tighter wraps, smaller pulleys, and higher operating temperatures. For straight replacement, match what the drive was designed for — switching between wrapped and cogged isn't usually a drop-in change without confirming pulley compatibility.

Why Gates Super HC

The Super HC range is built with EPDM rubber compounds for heat and ozone resistance, aramid or polyester tensile cords for low stretch under load, and a fabric wrap engineered for the right combination of grip in the groove and long-term wear.
