Round rings (also called welded lifting rings or master rings) are the load-rated steel rings used in rigging assemblies as connection points between slings, chains, and lifting hooks. The continuous closed loop provides a clean attachment point that handles load from any direction — essential for multi-leg sling assemblies and complex lifts. The ring types we stock

• Welded round rings — formed from steel bar with a welded join, the everyday rigging standard
• Drop-forged round rings — forged construction without weld, stronger for the same nominal size

Sizing and load ratings

Round rings are sized by ring inside diameter, ring stock diameter (the steel bar diameter), and working load limit (WLL). Common sizes range from small (3-tonne rated) to very large (32-tonne+ rated). The WLL must match or exceed the heaviest load the ring will carry; for multi-leg slings, the master ring WLL must accommodate the combined load with appropriate angle factor.

Compliance — AS 3776 and lifting standards

Round rings used in lifting applications must comply with AS 3776 (lifting components) and the broader AS 2550 lifting safety standards. Rings must be supplied with traceable manufacturer documentation, marked with the WLL and identification number, and inspected at intervals specified by the workplace lifting safety management system. Damaged or deformed rings must be removed from service immediately.
