SY Chain

SY Chain Lifting Components for Australian Rigging and Lifting Work

SY Chain is a brand of lifting chain, shackles, hooks, and rigging hardware supplied through AIMS Industrial to trade and industrial customers across Australia. The range covers Grade 80 chain and the matching components used in chain slings, lifting assemblies, and general rigging work where compliance with AS 3775 (lifting chains and components) is required.

The SY Chain range at AIMS

  • Grade 80 lifting chain — alloy steel chain for chain slings and direct-lift applications, rated to AS 3775
  • Grade 100 lifting chain — higher-strength alloy chain for the same diameter as Grade 80, providing higher working load limit
  • Lifting hooks — eye hooks, clevis hooks, swivel hooks, and self-locking hooks for chain sling termination
  • Shackles — bow and dee shackles in Grade S and Grade T for connection to slings, hooks, and lifting points
  • Master rings and links — connection components for multi-leg sling assemblies
  • Chain components and connectors — for assembling and modifying chain slings

Why SY Chain

The SY Chain range is supplied with the documentation Australian lifting compliance requires — manufacturer test certificates, working load limit (WLL) tags, batch traceability, and standards compliance markings. For workshops and rigging contractors maintaining the documentation that workplace safety audits require, SY Chain components fit cleanly into the broader compliance system.

Compliance — AS 3775 and AS 2550

Australian lifting chains and components must comply with AS 3775 (the manufacturing standard for chain slings and components). The use, inspection, and maintenance of lifting equipment is governed by AS 2550 family standards. SY Chain components are supplied compliant with AS 3775; the broader inspection regime (initial inspection, periodic inspection, post-event inspection) is the responsibility of the using workplace.

Working load limits

Each chain, hook, and shackle is rated by working load limit (WLL) — the maximum continuous load the component can safely handle. The WLL must match or exceed the heaviest load the component will see, with appropriate safety factor. For multi-leg slings, the rating derates by sling angle — wider angles between sling legs reduce the effective WLL significantly. Always check the WLL tag and the application before use.
