Thor Mallets & Hammers

Thor is a specialist UK manufacturer of non-marring hammers, mallets and replaceable-face systems trusted in toolrooms, engineering workshops and maintenance environments worldwide. AIMS Industrial stocks the Thor range including copper, rawhide, nylon and dead-blow options, along with replacement faces to extend tool life across years of service.

Browse Thor by face material:

  • Copper — reduced spark risk, ideal for hazardous areas. Leaves minimal marks on machined surfaces.
  • Rawhide — compresses on impact to reduce rebound. Used for close-tolerance assembly and driving without marking.
  • Nylon (white and orange) — lightweight, non-marking, resistant to chemicals and oils. Suitable for aluminium, plastic and painted surfaces.
  • Rubber (black) — high rebound, general-purpose driving and assembly.
  • Aluminium head + nylon face (dead-blow) — eliminates rebound with internal shot fill.

Interchangeable Face System

Thor mallets are built around interchangeable face inserts — the handle is retained and only the worn face replaced, which significantly reduces running costs over the tool's life. Replacement faces and heads are stocked individually across all materials, making it easy to change face type or extend tool life without buying a new tool. Replacement handles are also available for the TH412, TH414 and TH416 sizes.

Thor Dead-Blow Hammers

Thor dead-blow hammers feature an aluminium handle with a white nylon face. The internal shot-filled head eliminates rebound and reduces operator fatigue during repetitive striking — ideal where precision placement is needed in assembly, panel fitting and bearing seating applications.

Copper Hammers for Hazardous Areas

Thor copper-faced hammers are commonly specified in workshops handling flammable atmospheres — fuel handling, gas distribution, mining LPG and battery workshops — where reduced-spark-risk striking tools are required under site safety procedures. Copper-faced striking tools complement the broader non-sparking toolkit and are paired with appropriate workshop ventilation and gas-detection controls per the site's hazardous area classification.

Companion ranges at AIMS

Thor sits alongside our broader striking-tool range. See hammers for the parent category, mallets for the soft-faced range, ball pein hammers for engineering work and sledge hammers for heavy-duty driving. The full hand tools range covers the workshop kit alongside Thor.
