Sutton BSPF (British Standard Pipe Parallel — also designated G or BSP) taps and dies cut the parallel pipe thread form used on fittings, ports, and hydraulic connections throughout Australian industry. BSPF uses the Whitworth thread FORM (55°) at a pipe-specific pitch — it is not interchangeable with BSW or BSF fastener threads of the same nominal diameter.

Used to cut or restore parallel BSP pipe threads on hydraulic ports, pneumatic fittings, fluid system components, and instrumentation connections.

• Cutting BSPF (G) internal threads in hydraulic manifold ports, pneumatic valve bodies, and fluid fittings where a parallel seal is used with a face seal or bonded washer.
• Rethreading damaged BSP parallel threads on equipment housings, cylinder heads, and hydraulic cylinder ports during maintenance and repair work.
• Producing external BSPF threads on pipe ends, nipples, and custom fittings using button dies or die nuts for hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Selecting the right option

BSPF (G) threads are parallel and require a seal face or bonded washer — they do not seal on the thread itself. Confirm the correct nominal pipe size (e.g. G1/4, G1/2) and TPI from the fitting or port drawing before selecting your tap or die. Use HSS or HSSE V3 grade for stainless steel and alloy steel ports; carbon steel grade suits mild steel and non-critical applications.
