AAP 2 in Gas Brass Ball Valve, Male x Female, Lockable Lever | VGASMF50L

This AAP 2 in male x female gas brass ball valve has a lockable, plastic-coated stainless steel lever, a male thread on one end and a female thread on the other. It is supplied in one size, 2 in (50 mm).

A ball valve turns a ball with a hole through it between sealing seats. When the lever or handle is in line with the pipe the hole lines up with the flow and the valve is open, and a quarter turn closes it. AAP notes that the handle sits in line with the port, so it shows the valve position.

AAP lists it in its AGA approved gas ball valve range, under licence AGA 6017, with a 60 degrees C maximum working temperature and a cold working pressure of 2,500 kPa (25 bar), all manufacturer-stated. The body and seat retainer are nickel-plated brass, the ball is chromium-plated brass, the seat is PTFE and the stem packing is a double Viton O-ring (manufacturer-stated).

It is the male x female, lockable lever version in the 2 in (50 mm) size. AAP gives the thread as AS 1722.1 and describes the range as suited to low to medium gas applications, and to certain chemicals and oils (manufacturer-stated). Gas fitting work must be done by a licensed gasfitter, so check the approval and the gas pressure limits against the rules for your job before you install it.

Selecting the right option

Fit the male end into a female port of the same thread. AAP also lists female x female lockable-lever gas valves from 1/2 in to 2 in. Gas fitting work must be done by a licensed gasfitter, so check the approval and the gas pressure limits against the rules for your job before you install it.
