1/4 in (8 mm) Gas Brass Ball Valve, Male x Female, T-Handle | VGASMF08TH

This AAP male x female gas brass ball valve has a T-handle, a male thread on one end and a female thread on the other. It is supplied in 5 sizes from 1/4 in (8 mm) to 1 in (25 mm).

A ball valve turns a ball with a hole through it between sealing seats. When the lever or handle is in line with the pipe the hole lines up with the flow and the valve is open, and a quarter turn closes it. AAP notes that the handle sits in line with the port, so it shows the valve position.

AAP lists it in its AGA approved gas ball valve range, under licence AGA 6017, with a 60 degrees C maximum working temperature and a cold working pressure of 2,500 kPa (25 bar), all manufacturer-stated. The body and seat retainer are nickel-plated brass, the ball is chromium-plated brass, the seat is PTFE and the stem packing is a double Viton O-ring (manufacturer-stated).

The male x female layout lets the valve screw directly into a female port while taking a male fitting on the other end, which saves a nipple. AAP gives the thread as AS 1722.1 and describes the range as suited to low to medium gas applications, and to certain chemicals and oils (manufacturer-stated). Gas fitting work must be done by a licensed gasfitter, so check the approval and the gas pressure limits against the rules for your job before you install it.
