Aetna 4 point heavy duty round belt idler pulleys. They are made to give long life under demanding conditions, install on standard 1/2 in or 5/8 in bolts, and are used as tensioners or direction changers.

Selecting the right option

Match the idler to the belt it runs on (round belt size), then the outside diameter, the bore or bolt size, and the width the belt needs.

The model codes and dimensions for each size are in the sizes table. If you have the old idler, match its model code or measure the outside diameter, bore and width.

Dimension letters (A, B, C and so on) follow the Aetna catalogue drawing. Where the drawing does not name a letter as a standard dimension, the table lists it as Dimension B, C and so on.

Fitting and use

Mount the idler on a bolt that matches the bore, or the reduction bush where one is fitted, and clamp through the bush or inner ring only so the pulley rim turns freely on the bearing.

Line the idler up with the belt path, keep the running face clean and free of burrs, and set belt tension to the drive manufacturer's figure.

The bearing is sealed and lubricated at the factory. Keep water, grit and solvents away from the seals, and replace the idler if the bearing runs rough or noisy.
