JAF 5303-2RS Sealed Angular Contact Ball Bearing 17 x 47 x 22.2 mm

This JAF range covers 12 double row angular contact ball bearings with two rubber seals (2RS): the 5302-2RS, 5303-2RS, 5304-2RS, 5305-2RS, 5306-2RS, 5207-2RS, 5307-2RS, 5208-2RS, 5308-2RS, 5209-2RS, 5210-2RS and 5211-2RS, from 15 to 55 mm bore and 42 to 100 mm outer diameter. Angular contact bearings are built to carry radial load and axial load together. This double row type carries axial load in both directions from a single bearing, which saves space over a pair of single row bearings. The two rubber seals (2RS) keep dust and splashes out and hold the lubricant in.

Selecting the right option

Rubber seals (2RS) give better protection against dust, dirt and splashes than shields and hold the lubricant in. Seals add friction, so a sealed bearing runs slower than an open or shielded bearing of the same size, and a high speed application is better served by a shielded bearing. The limiting speeds listed above are for these sealed bearings.

Fitting and use

Check the load against the figures for your size before ordering and apply a suitable safety factor. A double row angular contact bearing carries axial load in both directions, but heavy or one-sided thrust should be checked with AIMS before ordering.

Press on the ring that is being fitted, not the other ring or the balls: force goes through the side face of the inner ring on a shaft and through the outer ring in a housing.

Keep sealed bearings in their packaging until mounting and do not wash them.
