Bossweld Bernard Style Teflon Liner 200/300, 4.8 m fit Bernard 200/300 style MIG torches. Two bore ranges are available, 0.9 to 1.2 mm and 1.2 to 1.6 mm, both in a 4.8 m length for aluminium wire.

The liner guides the welding wire from the drive rollers to the contact tip. A clean liner of the right bore feeds wire smoothly, while a worn, dirty or wrongly sized liner causes erratic feeding, bird-nesting and burn-back. Teflon (PTFE) liners suit aluminium and other soft wires, where a low-friction bore helps the wire feed without sticking.

Selecting the right option

Pick the liner to match your wire: the bore range has to include your wire diameter, and the material has to suit the wire (steel for steel and stainless, Teflon for aluminium and soft wires). Check the length against your torch cable, and cut the liner square and deburr the end when you fit it. Replace the liner whenever feeding becomes erratic, and change it along with the contact tip if you have been burning back.
