Selecting the right option
For marine engines and boating equipment see CRC 5-56 Marine Multi-Purpose Oil 300g. For a general multi-purpose lubricant see CRC 5-56 Multi-Purpose Lubricant. Each has its own data sheet and hazard classification.
Using it
Read the entire label. Spray a light, even coat.
CRC recommends a light spray once a day during fishing.
At the end of the season, or earlier with heavy use or continuous exposure, take reels apart, clean and lube them, then spray liberally.
To loosen rusted or seized parts, apply liberally; full penetration may take several hours. To displace water, spray wet surfaces until the run-off is clear.
Do not use on energised equipment, and allow the solvent to evaporate before energising (up to four hours). Use in a well-ventilated area.
Storage and handling
Protect from sunlight and do not expose to temperatures above 50 °C. Keep away from heat and ignition sources. Do not pierce or burn the can, even after use. The pressurised container may burst if heated.
Limits and safety
SDS classification: signal word Danger. Extremely flammable aerosol (H222). Pressurised container: may burst if heated (H229). Transport class UN 1950, Aerosols, Class 2.1. The flash point of 79 °C that appears in the older data and on CRC's web page is for the concentrate without propellant and does not describe the aerosol can. Do not use on energised equipment, and use in a well-ventilated area. CRC warns that aerosol cans conduct electricity, so keep them away from live electrical sources. Read the safety data sheet before use.
