Dixon T16AMP-050075PM 1/2" to 3/4" BioPharm Solid End Cap PM Finish - SF4

This Dixon BioPharm solid end cap closes off the end of a clamp-style BPE tube connection. It is 316 stainless steel and comes in 7 sizes: one cap for 1/2 in and 3/4 in tube, one for 1 in and 1-1/2 in tube, then 2, 2-1/2, 3, 4 and 6 in (manufacturer-stated).

The PM finish (SF4) has a mechanically polished outside (.812) and an inside that is mechanically polished and then electropolished (.381) (manufacturer-stated).

Dixon lists the cap to ASME BPE 2012 (table DT-4.1.5-2). Its packing page says each fitting is capped for transport, with a white cap marking the PM finish (manufacturer-stated).

PL and PM finish compared

Dixon prints the finish figures without a unit on its product pages. Its BPE surface finish table lists them as Ra maximum in micrometres (um), and the 2024 Dixon catalogue prints the same finishes as 32 Ra, 20 Ra and 15 Ra. Dixon describes mechanical polishing as smoothing the surface with tools and progressively finer abrasives, and electropolishing as an electrochemical process that removes material and leaves a smoother, mirror-like surface (all manufacturer-stated).

Dixon lists these parts against each tube size in its BioPharm catalogue and says the gaskets meet 21CFR 177.2600 and passed U.S.P class VI testing (manufacturer-stated). Ask us if you need the clamp or gasket.

Key specifications

A and B are the dimension letters in Dixon's Australian catalogue drawing, in millimetres. Dixon prints the tube OD as 12.7 mm for the 1/2 to 3/4 in cap and 38.1 mm for the 1 to 1-1/2 in cap, so tube OD is not repeated in this table.

Selecting the right option

Choose the cap by the tube size of the clamp connection it closes. The 1/2 to 3/4 in and 1 to 1-1/2 in caps each cover two tube sizes, so check the size against your ferrule or tube before ordering. You also need a clamp and gasket: the table under Matching clamp and gasket shows what Dixon lists for each size. The PM finish is electropolished inside; the PL finish is mechanically polished inside and out.
