Gates Sonic 550C Belt Tension Meter, ±1% Accuracy
Available
The Gates Sonic 550C Belt Tension Meter sets drive-belt tension accurately by measuring sound. Pluck the belt and the meter analyses the frequency through its sensor, returning the tension to within ±1% — no guesswork and no contact load gauge. It works on V-belts, multi-ribbed and synchronous belts, and reads out in Newtons and/or Hz on a high-definition OLED display.
Three frequency ranges (LOW 10–50 Hz, STANDARD 10–1,000 Hz and HIGH 900–5,000 Hz) cover everything from light to heavily tensioned belts, with 40 storage registers, auto gain control and auto shutdown after 5 minutes to save battery. The compact handheld body measures 160 × 26 × 59 mm and ships with a 170 mm flexible acoustic arm sensor. Pair it with Gates DesignFlex Pro software to look up the correct pretension. Note the meter is not for use in explosive-risk areas.
