Gates Micro-V Custom Backed belts are standard PowerGrip synchronous timing belts with a Micro-V ribbed backing added to the outside — letting you drive a second pulley off the back of the belt while the front teeth keep a shaft in sync. Construction follows Gates’ standard PowerGrip synchronous belt build: neoprene body for protection against grime, grease, oil and moisture, fibreglass tensile cords, and a tough nylon facing on the tooth surface.
Where this product is used
Micro-V Custom Backed belts are a specialised synchronous belt, not an automotive timing belt. Typical uses include:
- Dual-output drives needing one pulley on the front teeth and a second pulley off the back of the belt — flour mill and vacuum cleaner designs are classic examples
- Drives where the Micro-V backing needs to slip under shock load while the front-tooth drive stays in sync
- Applications wanting no re-tensioning and no lubrication, the same as a standard PowerGrip synchronous belt
