Pipe Taps are supplied with PARALLEL threads or TAPER threads. HSS taps provide a high hardness to toughness ratio, compressive and tensile strength, good abrasion resistance and resistance to micro-chipping, ensuring a long tool life. They are much shorter than a similar size of regular hand tap, but the design features are the same. The use of a tapered pipe reamer before tapping will prolong the life of the tap and also result in a higher quality finished thread, making it a reliable machine tap.
