The Hex Socket Set Screw A2 (304) is available in 12 sizes (2 mm to 2.5 mm) and is a headless screw threaded full length with a hex key socket in one end. It is screwed into a collar, pulley or hub to lock it onto a shaft.

A2 (304) stainless steel is the common general-purpose austenitic grade. It resists corrosion well indoors, in fresh water and in most general outdoor conditions, but it is not recommended where chlorides are present, such as coastal, pool and marine settings. Choose A4 (316) there.

The range runs to 12 variants, covering sizes 2 mm to 2.5 mm and lengths 2 mm to 12 mm. Every size comes in packs of 100.

Austenitic stainless steel is generally non-magnetic, although cold-worked parts can show weak magnetism. Stainless threads can gall (seize) when tightened under load or at speed. A smear of anti-seize on the thread and a steady tightening speed reduce the risk.

Selecting the right option

Stainless grub screws are softer than hardened alloy-steel ones, so check that the holding force is enough for the shaft load. Use a suitable thread-locking compound where vibration is present. The end shape of the screw is not stated in the supplier data.
