Loctite 680 High Strength Retaining Compound 250ml

The Loctite 680 High Strength Retaining Compound is a green, high-strength, low-viscosity retaining compound for bonding cylindrical parts such as bearings, bushes, sleeves and shafts. It cures between close-fitting metal surfaces, including stainless steel and plated parts, and tolerates light oil contamination, stopping loosening and leakage from shock and vibration. It fixtures in about 4 minutes, reaches 26 N/mm² compressive shear strength, works from -55°C to +150°C, and is certified to NSF/ANSI 61 for potable water up to 82°C. This is the 250 ml bottle.

Clean both parts, then coat to suit the fit: around the leading edge and inside the collar for slip fits, both faces for press fits, and the unheated part for shrink fits, with an activator on large gaps or for a faster cure; parts come apart with hand tools or local heat of about 250°C. It is not recommended for plastics, especially thermoplastics, or for pure-oxygen and strong-oxidiser service. Consult the Safety Data Sheet before use.
