The Loctite SF 790 Gasket Remover (formerly 790 Chisel) is a methylene chloride-based aerosol solvent that strips baked-on gaskets, gasket cements and formed-in-place gaskets, including RTV silicone and anaerobic materials, from metal surfaces. It also lifts high-temperature engine paints, carbon deposits and baked-on grease and oil. The foam clings to vertical faces and reaches intricate shapes, so there is far less scraping on soft aluminium flanges. This is the 510 g aerosol.
Spray a generous coat from 25 to 30 cm, give it 5 to 10 minutes to break down the old gasket, then lift it with a scraper and wipe the flange clean, repeating on stubborn spots. Keep overspray off paintwork you want to keep, and don't use it in pure oxygen or oxygen-rich systems. Consult the Safety Data Sheet before use.
