Macsafe MAC-STD Standard Prop Lock for Acrow and Gorilla-Type Props

The Macsafe Proplock Standard (MAC-STD) is a lock-out device that fits over an adjustable construction prop and locks out its adjustment. A unique expansion joint lets it fit over the most common adjustable props, including Acrow and Gorilla-type props, and Macsafe lists it for props of 60 to 63 mm (manufacturer-stated).

It is made from impact-resistant nylon and stainless steel, and fits or removes in under 10 seconds, including on a prop that is already erected, without dismantling it (manufacturer-stated). A personal safety lock or a hasp for several locks goes through the clamp, so one person or a team can lock out the prop under the site lock-out tag-out procedure. It is reusable and designed not to shrink or swell in harsh weather. Macsafe describes it as a device that locks out the prop's adjustment and does not publish a load rating for the lock. Common specifications

Fitting and lock-out

Set the prop to the required height on a clean, flat, stable surface, then fit the lock over the prop so that the adjusting handle is captured (manufacturer-stated). Put a personal safety lock, or a hasp for several locks, through the clamp, and before removing any lock confirm that it is safe to do so under your site lock-out tag-out procedure. Padlocks are not included (manufacturer-stated).

Selecting the right option

Choose the MAC-STD when your props are the common 60 to 63 mm Acrow or Gorilla-type, which is what it is made for. If your props are a different diameter, or you work across several prop makes, the Macsafe MAC-ADJ Adjustable Prop Lock adjusts to suit up to 65 mm. The lock does not include a padlock, and Macsafe does not publish a load rating, so follow your site lock-out tag-out procedure (manufacturer-stated).
