M6 Security Shear Nut, 316 Stainless Steel - SHNA4M6

Made in 316 (A4) stainless steel, the Security Shear Nut is a security nut with a break-off head. When it is tightened to the set torque, the head shears away and leaves a rounded nut that cannot easily be removed with a normal spanner.

Supplied in 316 (A4) stainless steel. The molybdenum in A4 gives better resistance to chlorides than A2 (304), so it is the usual choice near the coast, around pools and in marine and food-processing environments. Metric sizes are written M followed by the nominal thread diameter in millimetres, so M10 is a 10 mm thread.

Austenitic stainless steel is generally non-magnetic, although cold-worked parts can show weak magnetism. In wet conditions, keep stainless steel apart from aluminium and galvanised steel with a washer or sleeve, to reduce the risk of galvanic corrosion.
