Sutton M4031006 MF10 x 1.25 Metric Fine Button Die 1" OD - Carbon Alloy Steel

The Sutton M403 is a carbon alloy steel button die for cutting a new male (external) metric fine thread on studs. It is a solid round die, 1" (25.4 mm) OD, in 5 sizes, MF8 to MF12, that fits into an adjustable guide or plain die stock handle.

Made from carbon alloy steel. Carbon alloy steel threading tools are not suitable for precision, safety or critical threads: they are for general purpose and DIY use only. The cutting teeth provide a general purpose thread. Applications include DIY, trade, automotive, plumbing, metalworking and MRO work.

Using the button die

• Use a guide or die stock that matches the 1" OD of the die.
• Chamfer the end of the stud or rod and start the die square, turning forward and backing off regularly to break the chip.
• Use a cutting fluid suited to the material being threaded.
• Use for general purpose and DIY threads only.
