The 40° right-hand spiral flute suits blind holes in long chipping materials: the high helix angle curls the chips and transports them back out of the hole. The tap cuts on reversal, so the flutes have rake on both front and back faces. The VA designation is for stainless and tough steels, with a high rake angle and thread relief, so the chip flows continuously in an axial direction. The chamfer is Form C (2.5 x P), generally for blind holes.
The thread tolerance is 2B. The tap is built to DIN 2184-1.
