Swivel and pivoting lifting points
A swivel eye bolt has a bail that pivots on the shank, so the pull stays aligned with the load as the sling angle changes — the standard choice for multi-leg slings and any lift that isn't a straight vertical pull. Collared (shoulder) eye bolts
A collared or shoulder eye bolt has a machined shoulder that seats flush against the mounting surface, resisting the bending load that a plain-shank eye bolt can't handle off-axis. This is the standard AS/NZS 2317 and DIN 580 pattern, and it's the bulk of the forged eye bolt range here — from Austlift, Beaver and Hobson, in zinc-plated, black and stainless finishes.
Oblong and long series eye bolts

Eye nuts (DIN 582)
An eye nut is the female equivalent of an eye bolt: an internally threaded nut with an eye loop, used to turn an existing stud or through-bolt into a lifting point. Austlift, Beaver and Hobson all supply DIN 582 eye nuts in zinc-plated and stainless finishes, plus Austlift's bow eye nut variant.
G80 and G100 weld-on lifting points
Weld-on lifting points are welded directly onto machinery, hoppers and fabricated steelwork to create a permanent attachment point, rather than relying on a tapped hole. Austlift supplies Grade 80 weld-on points (WP and WH/hook types) and Yoke supplies Grade 100 weld-on and super weld-on points — both higher-strength grades suited to permanent installation by a qualified welder to the manufacturer's procedure.
Stainless steel eye bolts and eye nuts
Inox World supplies a dedicated 304 and 316 stainless range — collared eye bolts, mini eye bolts, DIN and JIS collared eye nuts, and lag eye screws — plus Austlift and Beaver offer 316 stainless versions of their standard collared eye bolt and eye nut lines. Material and finish options
- Zinc plated / zinc yellow passivate steel — the standard finish for general industrial and construction use, giving a reasonable level of corrosion resistance at the lowest cost.
- Black finish — an uncoated or black-oxide finish, used on some BS 4278 pattern eye bolts.

Sizing and selection
Get these four things right before you order:
- Thread size and pitch — match the tapped hole or stud exactly; metric and imperial (BSW/UNC) threads are not interchangeable. This range covers metric DIN/AS 2317 pattern and imperial BS 529/BS 4278 pattern threads.
- Thread engagement — as a rule of thumb, full engagement in tapped steel needs at least 1.5× the bolt diameter of thread depth (more in aluminium or softer materials); use a long series eye bolt where the hole isn't deep enough.
- Loading direction — a standard collared eye bolt is rated for straight vertical pull. If the sling angle will pull the eye off-axis, use a swivel lifting point rated for that angle, not a standard collared eye bolt loaded sideways.
- Environment — zinc-plated steel for general dry use, 304 or 316 stainless for marine, wash-down, food or chemical environments.
Lifting-rated hardware — what to check before you lift
The eye bolts, eye nuts and weld-on points in this range are manufactured and sold as rated lifting and rigging hardware, made to recognised standards including AS/NZS 2317, DIN 580, DIN 582, BS 4278, BS 529 and Grade 80/100 specifications. That still leaves selection and use up to you — a few points that matter every time:
- Check the rating marked on the eye bolt, nut or lifting point itself, and confirm it's appropriate for your load with an adequate safety margin — don't assume based on size alone.
- Standard (non-swivel) eye bolts are rated for straight vertical pull. Loading the eye at an angle reduces the safe capacity significantly — for any lift where the sling angle isn't dead vertical, use a swivel lifting point rated for that angle instead.
- Make sure the eye bolt or eye nut threads fully into sound base material, and that the mounting surface is clean and square so a collared eye bolt's shoulder can seat properly.
- Weld-on lifting points must be welded by a competent person following the manufacturer's welding procedure — an incorrectly welded point is not a rated lifting point.
- Inspect eye bolts and eye nuts before each lift for thread damage, cracking (particularly at the base of the eye and the thread root), corrosion and deformation. Damaged or worn hardware should be taken out of service, not downgraded to "non-lifting" use.
- For ongoing lifting applications, follow your workplace's periodic inspection and record-keeping requirements under your state or territory WHS regulations.

What's the difference between a collared (shoulder) eye bolt and a plain eye bolt?

What is a G80 or G100 weld-on lifting point used for?
A weld-on lifting point is welded directly to machinery or fabricated structural steel to create a permanent lifting point, commonly used on hoppers, skips and heavy fabricated equipment. Austlift's range is Grade 80; Yoke's is Grade 100 — both higher-strength forged grades. Because it's a welded connection, it must be installed by a competent welder following the manufacturer's specified procedure to be a valid rated lifting point.
When should I use a long series or oblong eye bolt instead of a standard one?
When the tapped hole is deeper than a standard eye bolt's thread length can fill — for example, a thick mounting plate or a deep-tapped machinery point. Full thread engagement (a common rule of thumb is at least 1.5× the bolt diameter in steel) is needed for the eye bolt to carry its rated load, and a long series or oblong pattern gives the extra shank length to achieve that in a deep hole.
Why choose 316 stainless steel over zinc-plated steel?
316 stainless resists corrosion far better than zinc-plated carbon steel in marine, coastal, wash-down, food-processing and chemical environments — where plated steel hardware can corrode within months.
