Polishing Materials

AIMS Industrial sells polishing materials from Linishall, Maxigear, Abbott & Ashby, Bordo, Pferd and Trax — covering polishing compounds, buffing mops, polishing wheels, polishing pads and surface finishing abrasives for metal, stainless steel, aluminium, brass and non-ferrous surfaces.

Whether you’re finishing weld seams on stainless, buffing aluminium to a mirror finish, or preparing a surface for electroplating, AIMS has the polishing material for the job.

Polishing Process Stages

  • Cutting / coarse polishing: Aggressive cutting compounds and sisal or stitched cotton mops remove deep scratches, grinding marks and surface defects, cutting the surface down to a uniform, fine scratch pattern.
  • Intermediate polishing: Medium-grade compounds with cotton or spiral-sewn mops refine the finish from the cutting stage, removing coarse compound lines and improving surface clarity.
  • Final polishing / colour buffing: Fine polishing compounds with loose-leaf or flannel mops deliver the final high-gloss mirror finish. Used on stainless, aluminium, brass and chrome surfaces.
  • Polishing pads and backing systems: Hook-and-loop and Velcro-backed polishing pads for use with angle grinders, random orbital polishers and die grinders. Used for automotive, marine and metal finishing.
