Polyflex belts are Gates' high-performance V-belt range for compact, high-speed drives — small fractional-power applications and tight installations where standard rubber V-belts struggle. The polyurethane construction with high-strength tensile cords delivers high power transmission in a small belt cross-section, with the precision dimensional stability that high-speed drives need. What makes Polyflex different

Polyflex belts use polyurethane (TPU) for the body instead of the rubber compounds standard V-belts use. The TPU is harder, more dimensionally stable, more abrasion-resistant, and tolerates higher operating temperatures than rubber. The result is a belt that handles the high-speed, high-cycle compact drives — pumps, small machine tools, motorcycle accessory drives, and OEM equipment — that standard rubber belts can't reliably serve.

Where Polyflex earns its place

Profile sizes

Polyflex belts are stocked in the small-size profiles — 3M, 5M, 7M, 11M and similar designations. Width and length specifications are matched to the drive design. For OEM replacement, match the existing belt's full designation; for new drive design, work from Gates' selection data.

Pulley compatibility

Polyflex belts run on standard V-belt pulleys with appropriate groove geometry — the belt's wedge angle and groove fit are designed to match common V-belt pulley standards. Don't substitute Polyflex into drives designed for cogged or notched belts unless the pulley geometry confirms compatibility.

The polyurethane formulation, tensile cord construction, and dimensional consistency are the result of extensive engineering investment — substituting unbranded equivalents typically results in shorter service life and inconsistent fitment.
