TIG Welding Accessories for Australian Trade and Industrial TIG Bays
TIG welding accessories cover the components that turn a TIG-capable welder into a complete TIG welding setup — torches, gas lenses, ceramic cups, foot pedals, water coolers, and the consumables that make TIG welding workable. For Australian fabricators, food-equipment manufacturers, and aerospace welders running TIG welding daily, the right accessories matched to the welder and the work make the difference between welds that meet specification first time and welds that need rework. AIMS Industrial supplies TIG welding accessories from Bossweld and approved trade brands.
The TIG accessory categories we cover
- TIG torches — air-cooled and water-cooled torches in standard amperage ratings. See our TIG torches
- Gas lenses — improved-coverage gas distribution components for cleaner weld shielding
- Ceramic cups — gas nozzles in standard sizes (#4 through #12)
- Tungsten electrodes — see our TIG welding consumables
- Collet bodies and collets — for clamping the tungsten electrode
- Back caps — sealing the rear of the torch
- Foot pedal amperage controls — for controlling welding amperage during the weld
- Water coolers — for water-cooled TIG torches
- Argon gas regulators — for controlling shielding gas flow
- Welding curtains and screens — for protecting bystanders from arc flash
Why gas lens versus standard collet body
Gas lens collet bodies have a fine mesh screen that distributes shielding gas more evenly than standard collet bodies. The result is improved weld shielding, cleaner weld appearance, and better resistance to atmosphere contamination. Gas lenses also allow the tungsten electrode to extend further from the cup (improving access in tight joints) without losing gas coverage. For sustained TIG work, particularly on stainless steel and aluminium where coverage matters, gas lenses are worth the cost difference over standard collet bodies.
Ceramic cup sizing
Ceramic cups are sized by number — typical range is #4 (small, ~6mm) through #12 (large, ~19mm). Larger cups provide better gas coverage and allow more electrode extension; smaller cups suit tight access work. Match cup size to the work: smaller cups for detail and access work, larger cups for sustained welding where coverage matters. Each cup size requires a matching collet body and gas lens.
Foot pedal amperage controls
Foot pedal amperage control is essential for production TIG welding — the welder modulates amperage during the weld to control heat input on varying material thickness, around joints, and at start/stop points. Without foot pedal control, TIG welding is significantly more limited. Most TIG welders have foot pedal connection ports; matching pedals are stocked to suit the common welder brands.
Water coolers
Water-cooled TIG torches require a circulating water cooler to maintain torch temperature during sustained welding. Coolers are typically sized by torch amperage capacity and duty cycle requirements. For workshops doing sustained TIG above 150A, a water cooler matched to the torch is essential equipment.
Brands stocked at AIMS
Bossweld is the core brand for TIG welding accessories — Australian-supplied and matched to the welding equipment commonly running in Australian workshops. INEFIL is stocked for welding wire. For specific brand-OEM accessories, sourcing through our distribution channels covers most options.
Setting up a complete TIG bay
A complete TIG welding bay needs:
- TIG-capable welder with appropriate amperage range
- Matching torch (air-cooled or water-cooled depending on amperage)
- Foot pedal amperage control
- Water cooler (for water-cooled torches)
- Argon gas supply with regulator and flow meter
- Tungsten electrodes and consumables (cups, gas lenses, collets, back caps)
- Filler rod (for sustained welding work)
- PPE — TIG-rated welding helmet, leather gloves, leathers
- Welding curtains for bay separation
- Torch holder and cable management
