HSS Jobber Drill Bits – 6mm (DIN338)
The default choice for most jobs. Our range runs from Sutton's D101 Silver Bullet and D102 Blue Bullet through to the D165 DXJ, D180 R40 Inox and D184/D179 Viper Plus, plus Bordo's Bright HSS and Black Night 2003/2007 series and P&N's Workshop Jobber. Several are stocked with TiN or TiAlN coating for longer life in mild and stainless steel, and bulk packs (e.g. Sutton D104 Silver Bullet Bulk Pack) are available for trade users going through a lot of bits.
Cobalt (HSS-Co) 6mm Drill Bits
Cobalt-alloy bits hold their edge at higher temperatures, making them the better pick for stainless steel and harder alloys where a standard HSS bit would dull quickly. The 6mm range includes Sutton's D108 and D109 Heavy Duty (also available as a bulk pack), D165 DXJ and D202 Left Hand Cobalt, plus Bordo's Cobalt TiAlN White Band and HSS Cobalt 2011 series. Spot-weld specific cobalt bits (Sutton D203, D205) are also available at 6mm.
Solid Carbide (VHM) 6mm Drill Bits
For hardened steel and sustained CNC or production drilling, solid tungsten carbide bits outlast HSS and cobalt by a wide margin. Sutton's VHM range at 6mm includes the D300/D306 straight-flute and D310/D323/D326 coated (TiCN/AlCrN) drills, along with carbide spotting drills (D355, D364, D365) used to start an accurate hole before a jobber bit follows through.
