Choosing a backing pad
Start with the disc you are mounting: the title shows whether a pad is for fibre discs, hook and loop discs, quick change discs or non-woven web discs. Then match the diameter and the mounting: several listings show M14 x 2 (the Maxigear white pad is also listed in M10 x 1.5), some show a bore such as 22 mm, and the Trax 6 5/16 inch pads show a 24 TPI sander thread. Where the title does not state the thread, check the listing or ask us. Check the density too (soft, medium, firm or hard), as it changes how the pad conforms to the work. Inspect pads before use and replace any that are damaged. Always check the listing for the diameter, thread and disc type before you order.

How do I choose a backing pad?
Match the pad to the disc type (fibre, hook and loop, quick change or non-woven web), then to the diameter and the thread or bore on your tool. The product title and variants show the sizes.
What thread do the backing pads have?
Several Maxigear pads are listed with an M14 x 2 thread, the Maxigear white pad is also listed in M10 x 1.5, and a few Pferd pads show M14. Some Klingspor pads show a bore such as 22 mm and the Trax 6 5/16 inch pads are listed at 24 TPI. Many titles do not state the thread, so check the listing or call us.
