Bearing Housings

Buy Bearing Housings Online in Australia

A bearing housing holds a bearing insert, locates the shaft and bolts the assembly to the machine. AIMS Industrial supplies the FYH range of bearing housings: pillow blocks, 2-bolt, 3-bolt and 4-bolt flanges, round flange cartridge housings and take-up housings, in normal, medium and heavy duty series. Most are cast iron, with small zinc alloy housings for light-duty and cleaner applications. Housings are matched to a bearing insert by series number and shaft size, so check the details against your bearing before you order.

Choosing a bearing housing

Start with the bearing insert you are using and its shaft size, then pick the housing series that matches it. Choose the mounting style to suit the machine: a pillow block bolts to a flat surface, a flange bolts to a face with the shaft passing through, a cartridge housing pilots into a bore, and a take-up housing lets you slide the bearing to tension a belt or chain, as on a conveyor. Match the duty class to the load, with normal duty for general use, medium duty for more demanding work and heavy duty for the toughest loads. Listings show the bolt size and shaft size in mm with inch equivalents, so match both.

Always check the data sheet. Confirm the housing series, bolt pattern and bore against your bearing insert and the machine before ordering, and check load and speed limits for the application. If you are replacing a housing, take the number from the old one or send us a photo.

Bearing housing FAQs

What is the difference between a pillow block and a flange housing?

A pillow block has a base that bolts to a flat surface under the shaft. A flange housing bolts to a face that the shaft passes through. We list pillow blocks and flange housings with 2, 3 or 4 bolt patterns.

What is a take-up bearing housing?

A take-up housing mounts in a slotted frame so the bearing position can be adjusted to tension a belt or chain, as on a conveyor. We list FYH T200 and T300 take-up housings.

What do normal, medium and heavy duty mean?

They are FYH's series classes for load capacity, starting with the 200 series (normal duty), the X series (medium duty) and the 300 series (heavy duty). The listing shows the series numbers, so match them to your bearing and load.

Do you have stainless or washdown housings?

We list FYH small size zinc alloy housings in the Clean Series, but not a dedicated stainless housing range in this collection. Call us if you need stainless or a washdown rating and we will check what we can source.

Do the housings come with the bearing?

Check each listing for what is included. Housings are matched to a bearing insert by series and shaft size, so we can help you pair them. Call us on (02) 9773 0122.
