Choosing FYH insert bearings and housings

Start with the shaft size and whether you need metric or imperial. Then choose the series: FYH lists the 200 series as normal duty, the X series as medium duty and the 300 series as heavy duty. Next decide how the bearing locks to the shaft: set screw, eccentric collar, snap ring, or a tapered bore with an adapter sleeve. Finally match the housing to the bearing, since housing numbers follow the bearing series (for example P205 with a 205-series insert). Always check the data sheet for dimensions, bolt size and compatibility before ordering.

FYH Bearing FAQs

What is an insert bearing?

An insert bearing is a ball bearing with a spherical outside surface that sits in a matching housing, such as a pillow block or flange unit. The spherical surface lets the bearing self-align in the housing. You buy the insert and the housing separately and fit them together.

How do insert bearings lock to the shaft?

The range includes set screw locking, eccentric collar locking, snap ring locking and tapered bore bearings with an adapter sleeve. Set screw is common on UC series bearings, and the eccentric collar style is the SA, SAA and NA series.

What do the 200, X and 300 series mean?

They are different bearing and housing size series. In this range the 200 series is listed as normal duty, the X series as medium duty and the 300 series as heavy duty. Match the housing to the bearing series and check the data sheet for loads and dimensions.
