Buy General Purpose Gloves Online in Australia
Everyday work gloves for grip, abrasion resistance and general handling: Ninja and Frontier coated, knitted, cotton and leather gloves, plus a SteelDrill lightweight nitrile glove. They suit trades, warehousing and maintenance. They are not a substitute for cut-resistant, chemical-resistant or heat-resistant gloves where those hazards are present.

Choosing general purpose gloves
Coating
Nitrile coatings generally resist abrasion and oil better than latex, so they suit workshop and automotive work. Latex coatings give strong grip, including in damp conditions. Polka dot and knitted gloves are lighter and cheaper, and suit light handling. Leather suits rougher handling where splinters and abrasion are a concern.
Size and fit
Choose the size that fits snugly without restricting movement. A loose glove loses grip and a tight one tires the hand. Sizes are on each product page.
When general purpose is not enough
For sharp edges and blades see cut-resistant gloves. For solvents, acids and alkalis see chemical-resistant gloves. For reinforced palms, see mechanics gloves. For power tools, see vibration-resistant gloves, and for heavy leather, see riggers gloves. Our types of work gloves guide explains the differences.
Washing and replacing
Check the care instructions on the product. Replace gloves when the coating has worn through, the fingers are split or the grip has gone.
Always check the data sheet
Coating, liner, cuff, sizing and the Australian Standard a glove is certified to differ between products. Confirm these on the product page or data sheet before you buy, and ask us if you are unsure what suits your work.

General purpose glove FAQs
What is the difference between nitrile-coated, latex-coated and polka dot gloves?
Nitrile coatings generally resist abrasion and oil better, which suits workshop and automotive work. Latex gives strong grip, including in damp conditions. Polka dot and knitted gloves are lighter and cheaper, and suit light handling and warehouse work.
Which glove suits a workshop or automotive job?
A nitrile-coated glove such as the Frontier Nitrile Sand or Takt Micro Foam Nitrile, or the Ninja Multi-Tech Nitrachem, generally handles oil better than a latex or cotton glove.
Do you have leather gloves?
Yes. The Frontier Leather Suede Swaggy and Frontier Rancher Leather gloves are in this range, and our riggers gloves collection has heavier leather options.
When should I step up to a specialist glove?
General purpose gloves are not for sharp edges, strong chemicals or heat. Step up to cut-resistant, chemical-resistant, mechanics, vibration-resistant or riggers gloves depending on the hazard.
Can I wash work gloves?
Check the care instructions on the product. Coated gloves generally wear faster with washing, and leather gloves usually should not be washed.
Can I buy gloves in bulk?
Yes. Several gloves here are sold in packs of 12, and we can quote on larger quantities. Contact us with the sizes and numbers you need.
