Kobe - AIMS Industrial Supplies

Kobe

Kobe is a stick (MMA) welding electrode brand, and AIMS Industrial supplies the range we carry: RB26 general purpose electrodes, LB52-18 hydrogen controlled electrodes and LB52-U hydrogen controlled electrodes, each in 2.6, 3.2 and 4 mm. Use the general purpose rod for everyday mild steel work, and a hydrogen controlled rod where the joint needs more care.

What's in the range

Electrode Sizes What it is
Kobe RB26 general purpose 2.6, 3.2 and 4 mm General purpose rod for mild steel fabrication and repair.
Kobe LB52-18 hydrogen controlled 2.6, 3.2 and 4 mm Low hydrogen rod for joints where cracking is a concern.
Kobe LB52-U hydrogen controlled 2.6, 3.2 and 4 mm Hydrogen controlled rod. Check the data sheet for its intended use and classification.

Choosing between them

For general fabrication, brackets and non-critical repairs, the RB26 is the simpler choice. If the weld is structural, on thicker material or crack-sensitive, or has to meet a welding procedure on your job, choose a hydrogen controlled rod and follow the procedure for it. Then pick the diameter to suit the material thickness and joint, because thicker rods run more current and suit heavier sections.

Hydrogen controlled electrodes pick up moisture once the pack is open, and damp rods can cause weld defects. Store them dry in a sealed container or a rod oven, and follow the manufacturer's instructions for redrying.

Always check the data sheet. Confirm the AWS classification, current range and polarity, and suitability for your job and welding procedure before use.

Kobe FAQs

What is the difference between general purpose and hydrogen controlled electrodes?

A general purpose electrode like the RB26 is a forgiving rod for everyday mild steel work. A hydrogen controlled electrode like the LB52-18 or LB52-U is used where the weld needs more care, such as thicker or crack-sensitive joints and work done to a welding procedure.

What sizes do the Kobe electrodes come in?

All three listed products come in 2.6, 3.2 and 4 mm.

How should I store hydrogen controlled electrodes?

Keep them dry in a sealed container or a rod oven once the pack is open, and follow the manufacturer's instructions if they have been exposed to damp air.

Which electrode diameter should I use?

Match the diameter to the thickness of the material and the joint. Thicker rods suit heavier sections and run higher current. Check the data sheet for the current range.

What is the difference between the LB52-18 and LB52-U?

Both are listed as hydrogen controlled electrodes. Check the data sheet for each for classification and intended use, or call us and we will help you pick.
