8G-10 Square Drive Decking Screw, 304 Stainless Steel - SDTA28GX50

Made in 304 (A2) stainless steel, the Square Drive Trim Head Decking Screw is a countersunk or trim head timber screw with a square drive and ribs under the head. It is used to fix decking boards and outdoor timber.

A2 (304) stainless steel is the common general-purpose austenitic grade. It resists corrosion well indoors, in fresh water and in most general outdoor conditions, but it is not recommended where chlorides are present, such as coastal, pool and marine settings. Choose A4 (316) there.

The range runs to 4 variants, covering sizes 8G-10 to 10G-12 x 65 mm. Variants are supplied in packs of 200 to 1000, depending on size.

Austenitic stainless steel is generally non-magnetic, although cold-worked parts can show weak magnetism. Use stainless washers and nuts with stainless fasteners, so the whole joint is made of the same material.

Selecting the right option

Pre-drill close to board ends and in dense hardwood to prevent splitting. Use the square drive bit size listed on the variant. For coastal or chloride-exposed use, choose the A4 (316) version: Imperial Square Drive Countersunk Decking Screw - 316 Stainless Steel.
