18-3M-9PB 3M HTD Pilot Bore Timing Pulley, 18 Teeth, 9 mm Belt

3M HTD pilot bore timing pulleys for HTD belts with a 3 mm pitch. The range covers 24 models from 18 to 72 teeth, for 9 and 15 mm wide belts.

The pulleys are made in aluminium for 18 to 26 teeth and steel for 32 to 72 teeth.

A pilot bore pulley is supplied with a starter hole, so you can have it bored and keywayed to suit your shaft. Pitch diameter, outside diameter, hub diameter, overall length and face width are listed for each model, along with the pilot bore diameter where the catalogue gives one.

Flanges are fitted as follows: two flanges for 18 to 44 teeth and no flanges for 48 to 72 teeth.

Selecting and fitting

Choose the pulley by belt profile (3M HTD), belt width and number of teeth. Divide the driven teeth by the driver teeth to find the speed ratio. Both pulleys on a drive must have the same tooth pitch as the belt.

The last number in each model code is the belt width in millimetres, so 36-3M-9PB is for a 9 mm wide belt. Pilot bore pulleys are supplied with a starter hole. Have the pulley bored and keywayed to suit your shaft, keeping the bore concentric with the pulley, and add a set screw over the keyway.

Fit the belt by moving the shafts closer together, not by levering it over the flanges or teeth. Set the belt tension to the belt maker's recommendation and check it again after a few hours of running.
