This AAP stainless steel ball valve is a 1-piece reducing bore valve with a 316 stainless steel lever with a locking device. It is supplied in 8 sizes from 1/4 in (8 mm) to 2 in (50 mm).
A ball valve turns a ball with a hole through it between sealing seats. When the lever or handle is in line with the pipe the hole lines up with the flow and the valve is open, and a quarter turn closes it. AAP notes that the handle sits in line with the port, so it shows the valve position.
AAP gives a maximum working temperature of 180 degrees C and a cold working pressure of 6,895 kPa (68.95 bar), with a body in CF8M, a 316 stainless steel ball and stem, and a PTFE (Teflon) seat (manufacturer-stated). It suits air, water and hot or cold corrosive fluids in harsh environments, per the manufacturer.
In a reducing bore valve the port is smaller than the pipe, so it restricts flow more than a full bore valve. The diameter D column shows the port size AAP lists for each valve. AAP lists a full bore 2-piece and a 3-piece valve for jobs where flow matters more.

Selecting the right option
Choose the size to match your pipe thread. This is the compact reducing bore version, so use the 2-piece or 3-piece full bore valve where the full pipe flow is needed. The 3-piece valve can be taken apart for servicing in the line.
