Selecting the right option

For mild steel and aluminium, standard jobber HSS is appropriate. Black oxide finish improves lubricity; bright finish suits aluminium. Sets covering 1–13mm (25 pieces) or 1–10mm (19 pieces) cover most trade requirements. Replace drills when cutting effort increases — a dull drill work-hardens stainless and hard steels.
