Every size has its own part number, listed in the table below with the approximate mass of the bush where the manufacturer lists it.

A plain bronze bush is a bearing surface or wear liner that is pressed into a housing, so the shaft or pin turns, slides or pivots inside it. It is a common replacement part where an original bush has worn.

Selecting and fitting

Choose the bush from the shaft or pin diameter, the housing bore and the length of the bearing seat. Inside diameter (A) is the bore the shaft runs in, and outside diameter (B) is the diameter that fits the housing.

The metric bronze bushes are listed under Bronze Bush, Plain, Metric, 8 to 50 mm Bore. For bronze bar to machine your own bushes, see Bronze Hollow Bar, Imperial, 1-1/2 to 2-1/2 inch OD, 12 inch Lengths and Bronze Solid Bar, Imperial, 1/2 to 2 inch Diameter, 12 inch Lengths.

Bronze bushes are normally pressed into the housing. Check the fit in the housing and the running clearance on the shaft for your application, and ream or machine the bore to size if a closer fit is needed.

Dimensions are as listed in the manufacturer catalogue and are for reference. Contact AIMS to confirm a measurement if it is critical to your application.
