Koyo CRSB-40 cam follower, D 63.5 mm, stud 25.4 mm

The Koyo CRSB-40 is an inch series stud-type track roller (cam follower) with a hexagonal wrench socket in the stud head. Track rollers, also known as cam followers, have thick-walled outer rings that run directly on a track. The thick outer rings give high load-carrying capability while keeping distortion and bending stresses low, and JTEKT designs them to withstand heavy rolling and shock loads on track-type or cam-controlled equipment. It is a non-separable, sealed unit with a full complement of needle rollers, stud seals, self-lubricating resin internal thrust washers and a stud-fastened retaining washer.

The seals help retain lubricant and exclude foreign matter, and inch series track rollers have a black-oxide finish on all external surfaces. The seals are thermally stable from -30 to +110 °C. Koyo bearings are made by JTEKT Corporation.

Selecting the right option

Cw is the dynamic load rating as a track roller. For rating life (L10) calculations the applied radial load must not be greater than Cw/4 under ideal operating conditions of alignment, lubrication and temperature.

Fr perm is the maximum permissible dynamic radial load and F0r perm is the maximum permissible static radial load as a track roller. The F0r perm values give a minimum static factor fs of 0.7 for the worst internal load distribution, and they must not be exceeded, because exceeding them may cause permanent damage to the track roller.

Fitting and use

The stud must fit closely in its mounting hole. The bore dimension in the table (db) gives a fit from 0.025 mm tight to 0.013 mm loose. The retaining washer should be firmly backed by a flat housing shoulder perpendicular to the stud axis, with a shoulder diameter at least equal to the minimum clamping diameter da. The clamping torque is based on lubricated threads, and if the threads are dry the listed torque may be doubled.

Re-lubrication is through an axially drilled hole in the stud with cross-drilled holes to the stud raceway and shank. The recessed axial hole accepts a standard nominal inch drive-type grease fitting, and plugs are supplied to close unused holes. Oil is the preferred lubricant; Koyo track rollers are normally supplied with a medium temperature grease.
