CRC Evapo-Rust Canister 1L

CRC Evapo-Rust Canister is a ready-to-use rust remover, supplied in a 1L no-pour canister with a dip basket. CRC says it removes rust to bare metal with no scrubbing or sanding required.

You rinse the item, place it in the basket, lower it into the canister and soak. CRC describes the formula as non-toxic, non-caustic and non-corrosive with no VOCs, and the safety data sheet does not classify it as hazardous.

Selecting the right option

Using it

CRC's directions: use at 18°C and above. Rinse the item, place it in the dip basket inside the canister and immerse it completely. Soak for at least 30 minutes for light rust, or 12 to 24 hours for stubborn rust.

Rinse the item with water and dry it immediately, then spray it with CRC Evapo-Rust Rust-Block to prevent flash rust. Replace the lid and store the used solution in the canister. When the liquid is spent, refill with CRC Evapo-Rust Ready to Use.

Storage and handling

Replace the lid after use and keep the used solution in the canister, as CRC directs.

Limits and safety

The SDS (16/07/25) does not classify it as hazardous according to Safe Work Australia criteria and gives no signal word or hazard statements. It is not classified as dangerous goods. CRC's canister data sheet names unrusted steel, other metals, plastic, PVC, Viton and non-oxide-based paints as unaffected; it does not name copper, brass, aluminium, rubber or vinyl, so check before soaking those.
