Dixon DCL80 4 Litre Coupling Lubricant

Dixon coupling lubricant is a biodegradable lubricant for coupling shanks, O-rings, hoses, sleeves, rubber washers and grommets (manufacturer-stated). It comes in a 1 litre bottle (DCL20) and a 4 litre bottle (DCL80).

Dixon says the slipping action goes away once the lubricant dries (manufacturer-stated). Its coupling procedures recommend it for lubricating the coupling shank and the hose inside diameter before the coupling is inserted, and advise against hand soap, oil, grease, WD-40 and silicone spray, which can attack the hose tube or reduce coupling retention (manufacturer-stated).

Selecting the right option

Pick the bottle by how much hose assembly work you do: the 1 litre bottle suits occasional use and the 4 litre bottle suits regular assembly. Apply it to the shank and hose bore before pushing the coupling in, and let it dry so the coupling holds.
