Dy-Mark 230732101 Zinc Guard Epoxy Enamel Flat Black 325g

Dy-Mark Zinc Guard Single Pack Epoxy Enamel is a high-build, direct-to-metal epoxy top coat in a 325g aerosol, in flat and gloss colours (manufacturer-stated). This page lists 7 colours.

Dy-Mark states that it protects surfaces against rust while giving a durable, long-lasting finish with greater UV resistance, using an advanced zinc anti-corrosive formula for industrial use. The data sheet lists pre-painted metal, steel, wrought iron, galvanised iron, and non-ferrous metals such as aluminium, alloys, ZINCALUME® and stainless steel; use an appropriate primer on non-ferrous metals, and for mild steel Dy-Mark recommends a Zinc Guard primer dried for 1 hour first. Suitable uses include fences, gates, doors, letter boxes, fabricated steel, brackets, trailers, and factory equipment and machinery.

It is touch dry in 6 hours at 25°C, with recoat after 16 hours and hard dry in 16 to 24 hours. Coverage is approximately 1.9m² per can, depending on the surface and overspray. The data sheet gives an application temperature between 10°C and 40°C, while the Dy-Mark brochure gives 10°C to 35°C, so use the lower figure if in doubt. The brochure lists Flat Black, Gloss Black, Golden Yellow Y14 and Gloss White in a pack of 12. Read the Safety Data Sheet before use.

The Dy-Mark Safety Data Sheet lists this product as an extremely flammable aerosol in a pressurised container that may burst if heated (hazard statements H222 and H229). Read the Safety Data Sheet before use and keep the can away from heat, sparks and open flame.

Selecting the right option

Choose the colour and finish: flat or gloss. The epoxy enamel dries slower than Quick Dry Enamel (touch dry in 6 hours against 10 to 15 minutes) but Dy-Mark lists it with greater UV resistance; if you need a fast turnaround see Zinc Guard Quick Dry Enamel.
