Aetna high speed flat flanged idler pulleys with a double row bearing. The flanges keep the belt on the pulley, and the pulleys are bushed to clear 1/2 in, 5/8 in and 3/4 in bolts. They are used as tensioners or direction changers where loads and speeds are greater than unground bearings suit.

Finish: Yellow zinc plated finish.

Selecting the right option

Match the idler to the belt it runs on (belt type), then the outside diameter, the bore or bolt size, and the width the belt needs. The flanges keep the belt on the pulley, so the face width needs to suit the belt.

Fitting and use

Mount the idler on a bolt that matches the bore, or the reduction bush where one is fitted, and clamp through the bush or inner ring only so the pulley rim turns freely on the bearing.

Line the idler up with the belt path, keep the running face clean and free of burrs, and set belt tension to the drive manufacturer's figure.

The bearing is sealed and lubricated at the factory. Keep water, grit and solvents away from the seals, and replace the idler if the bearing runs rough or noisy.
