KCM 06BSS-2 BS Stainless Steel Roller Chain Connecting Link Duplex, 3/8 in Pitch

KCM connecting links join the ends of a length of BS stainless steel duplex roller chain into a continuous loop. Match the link to the KCM chain with the same chain number, strand count and series.

Selecting the right option

For BS chain the number is the pitch in sixteenths of an inch: 08B is 8/16 in (1/2 in), 12B is 12/16 in (3/4 in), 16B is 1 in. The figure after the dash is the number of strands.

Choose stainless steel chain where corrosion, heat or cleanliness rules out carbon steel. KCM publishes a maximum allowable load only, and it is far lower than the same-size steel chain (for example 0.44 kN against 3.63 kN for size 40), so size the chain on that figure. KCM also lists a strengthened AS stainless chain with a maximum allowable load 1.5 times that of standard SS.

Fitting and use

KCM says not to replace damaged parts of a chain with new ones. Replace the whole chain, and check the sprockets when changing chain.

Check that a safety cover is fitted before running a chain drive.
