Loctite SF 7840, also known as Loctite Natural Blue and Loctite 7840, is a concentrated, biodegradable cleaner and degreaser. It is a blue, water-based liquid that contains no hazardous solvents and is non-flammable and non-caustic.

Henkel lists it for removing grease, lubricants, cutting oils, fuel oils, tar, road salt, light carbon, food stains, wax, animal fat, mildew and soot. You dilute it with warm or cold water to suit the job, from heavy degreasing in dip tanks to light cleaning of work areas.

Selecting the right option

Henkel's advice is to start with a strong mix and weaken it until you reach the most economical concentration that still does the job. For a solvent cleaner used on surfaces just before bonding, see Loctite SF 7063 General Purpose Cleaner - 400ml Aerosol.

Using it

Dilute with warm or cold water, soak or spray the surface, then wipe or rinse. Stronger mixes, warm water, agitation and contact time all improve results.

Cleaner residue can stop anaerobic products from curing. Rinse parts thoroughly before threadlocking or sealing.

Storage and handling

Store unopened in a dry place. The optimal storage temperature is 8 °C to 21 °C. Storage below 8 °C or above 28 °C can affect the properties of the product.

Limits and safety

It may attack painted surfaces in mixes with less than 20 parts water to 1 part concentrate. Not recommended for pure oxygen or oxygen-rich systems, or as a sealant for chlorine or other strong oxidisers.
