M6 Countersunk Timber Insert, 316 Stainless Steel - CTIA4M6
Available
This 316 stainless steel countersunk timber insert is a threaded insert with an external timber thread and a countersunk flange. It is screwed into timber to give a machine thread (M6) for a bolt or screw. A left hand thread version is also listed.
The A4 (316) grade is stainless steel with added molybdenum, which helps it hold up where salt, pool chemicals or washdown chemicals are present. It is the more corrosion-resistant of the two common stainless grades, at a higher cost than 304. Metric sizes are written M followed by the nominal thread diameter in millimetres, so M10 is a 10 mm thread.
This listing covers one size: M6. Every size comes in packs of 10.
Austenitic stainless steel is generally non-magnetic, although cold-worked parts can show weak magnetism. In wet conditions, keep stainless steel apart from aluminium and galvanised steel with a washer or sleeve, to reduce the risk of galvanic corrosion.
