D-3 Max Dynamic Coupling Taper Lock Hub, 1008 Bush

Taper lock hubs for Max Dynamic couplings, in sizes D-3 to D-80. Max Dynamic couplings are made of two hubs with a polyurethane element between them. The coupling protects the equipment against twist, impact and abrasion, and it is replaced and maintained without oil or grease. The simple structure means the element can be replaced without separating the motor or the connected machine. The polyurethane gives good water and chemical resistance and a very flexible, elastic action, with less noise.

Each hub has a tapered bore that takes a taper lock bush. The bush is machined to your shaft size and keyway, so the hub needs no boring. Bushes are sold separately, and the bush number for each size is listed below. Each listing is one hub.

Selecting and fitting

Choose the size from the torque and the shaft size, and apply a service factor for the type of machine. The torque is listed in kgf.m, and one kgf.m is about 9.81 Nm. A complete coupling needs two hubs and one element. The element is Max Dynamic Coupling Polyurethane Element, and bushes are on Metric Taper Lock Bushes, Cast Iron and Imperial Taper Lock Bushes, Cast Iron.

Fit the bush in the hub, slide the assembly onto the shaft and tighten the bush screws evenly to the bush manufacturer's torque. Align the two shafts as closely as you can before fitting the coupling, and check the alignment again once the coupling is fitted. Good alignment gives the longest life, whatever the coupling type.
